Needle Point Stitch Pattern:
Start with a black square in one of the 4 corners. Alternate the rows of black and white yarn to create the checkered board effect. Create squares that are in groups of 4 stitches worked in a diagonal pattern as shown.
Work 11 squares across and 11 squares down. Each white square will face the same direction and each black square faces the opposite direction.
Trim the entire edge with a running stitches going into each outer most hole, leave tails to be woven into the wrong side at the end.
To finish, weave any loose tails into the wrong side of the coaster. Next, cut your cork board to make a 4.8" x 4.8" piece because you want it to be just a little smaller than your needle point canvas. Cover it in super glue, or hot glue if you prefer. Now place the wrong side finished needle point canvas on to the glue cork board. Place your coaster between two heavy books for a couple hours.
